INVINCIBLE

From the studio that brought you “The Rookie” and “Remember The Titans” comes INVINCIBLE, inspired by the true story of Vince Papale (MARK WAHLBERG), a man with nothing to lose who ignored the staggering odds and made his dream come true. When the coach (GREG KINNEAR) of Papale’s beloved hometown football team hosted an unprecedented open tryout, the public consensus was that it was a waste of time — no one good enough to play professional football was going to be found this way.

Certainly no one like Papale — a down-on-his-luck, 30 year-old, substitute teacher and part-time bartender who never even played college football. But against these odds, Papale made the team and soon found himself living every fan’s fantasy — moving from his cheap seats in the upper deck to standing on the field as a professional football player.

Self-made success — hogwash!

What does Walt Disney say about being a self-made success story?

“It seems to me shallow and arrogant for any man in these times to claim he is completely self-made, that he owes all his success to his own unaided efforts. Many hands and hearts and minds generally contribute to anyone’s notable achievements.”

Three of my coaching clients just this month got down on themselves about “needing help” to make their dreams come true. One woman said she felt so “dependent” and “helpless” admitting that she needed the help of others.

My response?

HOGWASH!!!

That’s utter crap! There’s no such thing as “the self-made man – OR woman!”

My assignment to her was to list the top 10 mega successful men in America and the top 10 mega successful women in America. And then my challenge to her was to name just ONE person on either list who did not get the help of another person in order to become the mega success that they were today.

Guess what the result was?

I challenge anyone to do this same exercise. And the next time you hesitate about “asking for help” or “asking for anything” to help you fulfill your dreams – look at your list. Then remind yourself: ALL successful people owe their success to others who helped them become successful.

60 Second Success Tip of the Day:
ASK for help!
Ask for what you need to succeed.
Ask someone else to join you in helping you reach your goals.
Asking is the #1 success secret of the mega successful superstars in America today.
