Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round One

glumbert.com – Japanese Tetris

Here’s the backstory of these funny videos that transcend the language barrier.

My friend Simon Leung (AKA: The google-god) sent this to me last week in an IM.

At first, as I scratched my head, I thought… WTH?! (What the heck?!) WHY is Simon sending this to me?! Doesn’t he know that:

A. I’m really busy?!
and
B. I’m really not into Asian Game Shows?
(or at least I didn’t THINK I was… until, I clicked the link…)

All of a sudden, I began to appreciate why Simon HAD to share this with me. And I caught the bug! Despite the fact that I couldn’t understand one word they were saying, I realized something significant.

Communication doesn’t require words.

Think about that for a moment before you dispute it.

Think of all the different ways we can communicate without using words.

Have you ever watched Hula Dancers and understood the story being told without one word uttered?

Or communicated with someone using ASL (American Sign Language) where your hands, facial expressions and body language express what you want to convey?

Using sign language may even communicate emotions better than using mere words, as the emotion gets across in a deeper, richer way with the intensity of your body language when you communicate using ASL.

Or been to an Italian Labor Day Party where you’ve got to quickly jump back to avoid a hand gesture hitting you in the gut as you walk from one side of the room to the other with a drink in your hand?

So – I repeat…

Communication doesn’t require words.

Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round Two

glumbert.com – Japanese Tetris 2

I forwarded this video to a good friend of mine to test out my theory… that you really don’t need words to communicate, and to see if this funny video would transcend all communication barriers.

My friend who typically needs sub-titles, captions or be able to read lips on a YouTube video in order to understand every word being spoken, (as he happens to be deaf), apparently didn’t need to hear or see one word spoken in order to start busting out laughing out loud as he watched this funny video.

As one impossible pattern after another approached, he’d IM me the shape that came through as we watched it together and shared one of the best laughs of the week!

So much so – that I even watched Round Two of Human Tetris that Simon sent me after I was ROTFLOLIAPMP (Rolling On The Floor Laughing Out Loud, I almost pee’d my pants!) from the first funny video.

So – THANK You Simon! For not only making me laugh, and giving me a great Ab Workout, but for making me realize how humor is universal. And for helping me realize that words are not always necessary to communicate our message.

Watch the funny videos – and let me know if you agree, disagree, busted out laughing, or are still scratching your head thinking you need to understand the words to understand the comedy.

Ok – and for those of you who are now addicted to laughing on Funny Friday – Voila! Here’s another one for ya’ – just for fun!

Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round Three

Now ya’ gotta’ tell me how many you watched in the comment box below AND what your favorite moves were.
