Loftier Ambition

There is a loftier ambition than merely to stand high in the world.
It is to stoop down and lift mankind a little higher.

Innovative Thinking – funny video

I’ve never been a fan of repeating “sayings” that everybody else uses.

One of my favorite lines is from the movie, Good Will Hunting when Matt Damon’s character asks the girl he wants to see to go out for “caramels” instead of asking what every other guy asks – to go out for coffee or drinks.

I like that! Original thinking!

Innovative Thinking!

I also don’t understand why some sayings are repeated because they make no sense whatsoever!

So I tend to say them wrong if I’m ever caught saying them at all.

I can relate to Data here in this funny video… see if you can relate too:

Funny Friday Video Break – crossing language barriers

Kicking off your Labor Day weekend with a funny video that at first… you’ll wonder why I am sharing it with you… but then… as you see how this international video crosses all language barriers, and your side starts to ache from laughing at the “human tetris” game you’ll see played out on your screen – you’ll understand why I share this for Funny Friday.

Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round One

Here’s the backstory of these funny videos that transcend the language barrier.

My friend Simon Leung (AKA: The google-god) sent this to me last week in an IM.

At first, as I scratched my head, I thought… WTH?! (What the heck?!) WHY is Simon sending this to me?! Doesn’t he know that:

A. I’m really busy?!
and
B. I’m really not into Asian Game Shows?
(or at least I didn’t THINK I was… until, I clicked the link…)

All of a sudden, I began to appreciate why Simon HAD to share this with me. And I caught the bug! Despite the fact that I couldn’t understand one word they were saying, I realized something significant.

Communication doesn’t require words.

Think about that for a moment before you dispute it.

Think of all the different ways we can communicate without using words.

Have you ever watched Hula Dancers and understood the story being told without one word uttered?

Or communicated with someone using ASL (American Sign Language) where your hands, facial expressions and body language express what you want to convey?

Using sign language may even communicate emotions better than using mere words, as the emotion gets across in a deeper, richer way with the intensity of your body language when you communicate using ASL.

Or been to an Italian Labor Day Party where you’ve got to quickly jump back to avoid a hand gesture hitting you in the gut as you walk from one side of the room to the other with a drink in your hand?

So – I repeat…

Communication doesn’t require words.

Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round Two

I forwarded this video to a good friend of mine to test out my theory… that you really don’t need words to communicate, and to see if this funny video would transcend all communication barriers.

My friend who typically needs sub-titles, captions or be able to read lips on a YouTube video in order to understand every word being spoken, (as he happens to be deaf), apparently didn’t need to hear or see one word spoken in order to start busting out laughing out loud as he watched this funny video.

As one impossible pattern after another approached, he’d IM me the shape that came through as we watched it together and shared one of the best laughs of the week!

So much so – that I even watched Round Two of Human Tetris that Simon sent me after I was ROTFLOLIAPMP (Rolling On The Floor Laughing Out Loud, I almost pee’d my pants!) from the first funny video.

So – THANK You Simon! For not only making me laugh, and giving me a great Ab Workout, but for making me realize how humor is universal. And for helping me realize that words are not always necessary to communicate our message.

Watch the funny videos – and let me know if you agree, disagree, busted out laughing, or are still scratching your head thinking you need to understand the words to understand the comedy.

Ok – and for those of you who are now addicted to laughing on Funny Friday – Voila! Here’s another one for ya’ – just for fun!

Funny Video (no words needed) Human Tetris Round Three

Now ya’ gotta’ tell me how many you watched in the comment box below AND what your favorite moves were.

Are you TOO Sexy?

Do you have jealous friends? Are you a jealous person?

As you examine the picture in this blog post, ponder the question it poses… I mean, think about it – is it possible? Can you be?

As you look at this picture below, just remember – sometimes, when you’re feeling down, all it takes is to look at your situation with a different perspective, and you can turn the meaning around and thereby turn a frown into a smile.

Ok – for Funny Friday, I thought I’d send you a chuckle – enjoy the picture!

Health – Q&A Session

Q: I’ve heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life; is this true?

A: Your heart is only good for so many beats, and that’s it… don’t waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that’s like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap.

Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables?

A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. Need grain? Eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products.

Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake?

A: No, not at all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up!

Q: How can I calculate my body/fat ratio?

A: Well, if you have a body and you have fat, your ratio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc.

Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program?

A: Can’t think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No Pain…Good !

Q: Aren’t fried foods bad for you?

A: YOU’RE NOT LISTENING!!!… Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they’re permeated in i t. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you?

Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle?

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

Q: Is chocolate bad for me?

A: Are you crazy? HELLO . Cocoa beans! Another vegetable!!! It’s the best feel-good food around!

Q: Is swimming good for your figure?

A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me.

Q: Is getting in-shape important for my lifestyle?

A: Hey! ‘Round‘ IS a shape!

Well, I hope this has cleared up any misconceptions you may have had about food and diets.
This was sent to me via email, and I just HAD to share it with my subscribers.

Letter to “The Dog”

When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions so that you are still in the way. :(

The dishes with the paw print are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by Nascar and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn’t help, because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs sleeping, they can actually curl up in a ball. It is also not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but doggy sarcasm.

My CD’s are not miniature frisbees.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using bathrooms for years, canine attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dogs’ butts.
I cannot stress this enough.
It would be such a simple change for you.
